This painting is part of the collection of the Hellenic National Gallery.
It shows a small island in the middle of the blue sea and opposite it the island of Santorini. Santorini is located in the South Aegean Sea and it is part of the Cyclades Islands. Santorini is famous for its intriguing history, its awsome volcanic landscape, its cosmopolitan atmosphere and its breathtaking sunsets.
The painter, Constantine Maleas, used oil on canvas to make this painting. Constantine Maleas was born in 1879 in Constantinople but at the age of 23 he went to Paris. In 1913 he went to Thessaloniki and he died in 1928.
